4 Days, 3 Nights at Sugar Marina LAGOON: What to Do on Phuket’s Quieter Side

We landed in Phuket just after lunch. Ten minutes later, we were at our villa with our feet in our own pool. No long transfer, no traffic along the coast. Just green gardens, quiet roads and the island pace.

That’s the thing about Nai Yang. It’s Phuket’s quieter side, and Sugar Marina LAGOON Villas is the stay that matches it. Here’s how we spent four days and three nights, and what we’d do again.

Why We Chose Nai Yang

We wanted Phuket without the rush. Nai Yang gave us that.

The airport is 10 minutes away, so we didn’t lose half a day to travel.

The beach sits inside Sirinat National Park, lined with trees and calm enough for long walks.

The hotel shuttle is free and goes to Nai Yang, Nai Thon and Banana Beach.

We had space. Our villa with a private pool felt like our own small home.

The trade-off is that nightlife is low-key. We didn’t mind at all.

Day 1: Arrive and Slow Down

We dropped our bags and jumped straight into the pool. That first swim set the tone for the whole trip.

In the late afternoon, we took the shuttle to Nai Yang Beach. We walked under the trees and watched the planes glide in low over the water. It’s a funny, very Nai Yang way to spend your first hour by the sea.

Dinner was at Linara Restaurant, which serves local Phuket flavours alongside familiar dishes. We had a drink at Linara Bar, then went to bed early.

Day 2: Pool, Play and Nothing Much

This was our favourite day because we planned almost nothing.

We started with a floating breakfast in our villa pool. You’ll need to book it 3 hours ahead, and there’s a Thai set and an International set. Yes, we took the photos.

The kids disappeared into the Kids Club and the Splash Park for most of the morning. We stayed by the lagoon pool and later booked an in-villa massage through reception. No need to go anywhere.

For sunset, we caught the shuttle to Nai Thon Beach. It’s one of the prettiest and quietest bays on the west coast. We stayed on for dinner at KIRI Restaurant, right on the beach, with Thai dishes, pizza and burgers. Everyone found something they liked.

Day 3: One Big Day Out

With two slow days behind us, we were ready for an adventure. Reception helped us book one.

Here are the options we looked at:

An island day trip to Phi Phi, or to the Similan and Surin Islands in season (around November to April).

A yacht or catamaran cruise with snorkelling stops.

Ziplining at Flying Hanuman or Hanuman World.

A water park day at Andamanda.

An evening show at Phuket FantaSea or Carnival Magic.

Our tip: Save your big day for Day 3.
You’ll be rested, and you won’t be racing a flight.

Day 4: One Last Swim

We had a slow breakfast, one last swim and a final walk on Nai Yang Beach. With the airport so close, we didn’t have to rush. We booked a private transfer through the hotel and were at the terminal in 10 minutes.
