Where to Stay in Phuket

The island of Phuket offers a tropical paradise of over 500 square kilometres. It’s surrounded by Phang Nga Bay on one side and the Andaman Sea on the other and is known worldwide for offering numerous breathtaking beaches. It’s also known for its exciting nightlife, quality restaurants, world-class shopping, and wealth of accommodation.

Everyone planning a visit to the island for the first time asks themselves, where should I stay in Phuket? You want beautiful sunsets, great restaurants, exciting watersports, fantastic nightlife, picturesque beaches, and unique, high-quality, and convenient accommodation close to all these attractions. All these are offered on the western ‘Gold Coast’ of Phuket.

Private Transportation is a Must on the East Side of Phuket

The east side of Phuket offers some must-see national parks with waterfalls and tropical wildlife, the old-world charms of Phuket Town, two aquaria, and several shopping and scenic attractions that are well worth visiting. However, you’ll be doing a lot more travelling to reach them, as the attractions are a bit more spread out on the island’s eastern side. Staying on the eastern side of the island often requires having your own transportation.

While there are some enchanting beaches along the east coast, there are fewer of them, as the northern areas of the east coast offer only mangrove forests and swampland.

The exciting clubs the island is known for are also on the island’s west coast in Patong Beach, making it ideal for nightlife lovers.

West Coast is the Best Coast

The west coast of Phuket also offers a much greater variety of accommodation choices. You can pick your favourite areas of the west coast based on the restaurants, beaches, and nightlife.

The natural topography of the west coast of Phuket offers wide coves with stunning beaches running all along the coast. Beachside towns have all been developed in the coves, and a well-maintained road links them all together. The main town along this coast is Patong Beach. It’s the mecca of nightlife, shopping, and dining experiences.

Well-located Accommodation

While Patong Beach may be the main attraction on the west coast, it also has its downsides. Noise, traffic, and crowding make finding accommodation that is nearby but far enough out of town to offer a more pleasant stay a much better idea.

Staying just outside of Patong Beach means you’ll be able to enjoy a less-crowded beach for an early morning walk or sleep in peacefully after tearing it up on the dance floor the previous night.

Convenient Kata Beach

The convenient Kata Beach is becoming a favourite destination for repeat visitors to Phuket who love its twin picturesque beaches, it’s easy and casual bars and dining choices along the beaches, its available watersports, and its proximity to Patong Beach just a 15-minute drive away.

Many first-time visitors to the island are following the lead of the more experienced when choosing where to stay in Phuket, as Kata Beach offers both natural beauty and modern conveniences in a single fun and exciting community.
